A little bit about my background

I am a graphic designer / web developer who lives in Canada, but was born in Hong Kong. I graduated from the graphic design and digital media program at Vancouver Island University in 2006 before being instantly hired by the Communications and Public Relations Department / Marketing and Recruitment Services as a multi-media designer. I have worked for that department for two years.

Most of my duties involve digital media, print, and web development. I enjoy living within and combining the worlds of art and digital media. I decided to start my career at my university because my schooling touched on every aspect of knowledge and people, science, media studies, applied arts, business, law, literature, and culture. This portal opened a wide range of skillsets, which I never could have achieved in other schools and design firms. I also work as a freelance designer / developer with some very unique clients.

My main inspirations and influences

My inspiration comes from daily life experiences and the people I connect with. People are like chapters in a book - I believe their stories need to be told and translated into art and literature. Most of my influences come from the younger generation. Every year, I visit my graphic program graduation ceremony and every year I learn something new from younger designers.

Motivations and interests

Design is what I love to do. I just love to create, create, and create. I can't complain about what I have today.

My newest project

I have been working on a personal project for quite a while. It is a multi-user, online, real time, typing application where different people around the world would be able to contribute to the same article at the same time and also be able to observe every character being typed with up-to-the-second updates. Web technology has been changing at a lightning fast pace these days, from Ajax to Flex. I am searching for the right technology to give me the best result and performance at this moment.
